Committee News – May 2019

Broken glass has been found in the Children’s Play Area
Unfortunately, we recently discovered that a bottle had been smashed in the children’s play area and no attempt made to clear away the glass. This of course represented a very serious danger to children using these facilities.
We try to make the play and picnic area a pleasant place for all Charlton residents and visitors and we encourage people to use it responsibly.
If you discover any problems, please contact Frenchie Tsabet (07747 616944).

Tractor: A replacement second-hand tractor has been purchased. It has proved suitable for the task and we are awaiting a set of grass tyres to complete the work. The committee is extremely grateful to Frenchie Tsabet for locating the tractor and giving it a thorough overhaul.
Heaters: Initially we were targeting a like-for-like replacement of the heaters but have now found a contact who can advise us about air-source heating, which is more environmentally friendly. The committee has therefore decided to explore this option before making applications for grants.

Football Coaching: Around 12 children have attended the first two of the four taster coaching sessions. The coach has decided to hold further sessions through to July – see website calendar for details.

Spring Quiz: The quiz on the 27 April was a great success, raising £647 towards projects at the recreation centre. Thanks to all those taking part.
